Why wont batman arkham city work on my pv?

i am new to playing pc games and i just got batman arkham city. i installed it and each time i launch it says has to check for updates for the first time it is launched. when i click accept it loads then when its done it closes itself. i keep on doing the same thing over and over and nothing happens. please help!!!!!!!Why wont batman arkham city work on my pv?
